How Kybella™ Works
The excessive fullness under the chin that causes the “double chin” is known as submental fullness. Kybella™ contains an active ingredient called deoxycholic acid that assists in the breakdown and absorption of fat to produce the desired chin profile. The fat cells are destroyed by the active ingredients in Kybella™, so the fat cells can no longer store or accumulate fat. Most patients need 2 to 4 treatments to achieve the desired outcome, although no touchups are needed in the future once the patient gets their intended result.
The Kybella™ treatment process includes:
- An initial consultation in our office
- An examination of the area to determine if this treatment is right for you
- Creation of a customized treatment plan to reach your goals
- Administration of the injections according to your treatment plan during a 20-30 minute appointment
- Healing from minor post-injection swelling and potential bruising during brief downtime
Each treatment includes several injections in the treatment area. The entire procedure is very quick and virtually painless. Depending on your individual needs and specific goals, multiple treatments may be needed. We always tailor the aesthetic goals of every patients to the treatments they may need to achieve the look they desire. Most patients achieve their desired chin profile after 2-4 treatments, each spaced at least a month apart.
